My UK bball obsessed friend seems to think he would go to the NBA if the Cavs job opens up. Him and Lebron are pretty close.

They are close. I think the CAVS would be his only consideration due to the Lebron relationship, and Cleveland being a small market. Some say he'd go to New York but Cal isn't stupid.

My honest opinion. He is here for another 4-5 years and either retires completely from coaching and takes an GM/Athletic Director position, or takes over Cleveland. Yes even 4-5 years down the road the CAVS job will be an option. Lebron would be winding down his career at that point and I could see Cal going to the CAVS and helping transition them through a Lebron retirement.

Cal would be 60-61 at that point, and lebron would be 34-35. Lebron would probably have about 2 seasons, 3 at best left in the tank and Cal would be a great coach to bring in to help him with those last remaining seasons. Cal has said ever sense he got to Kentucky he wasn't coaching past 60. He has always wanted to coach Lebron as well.

It wouldn't surprise me honestly. At the same time I think he also sees the potential to be Wooden-esque and wants that.

If he goes, he goes. I'll appreciate his time here and welcome the next guy who will likely be quality too.
