I went to IMG and we played Manatee in baseball every year, and our baseball team was just as studded as the current football team. Doubt manatee would run from IMG considering they hate their guts

To elaborate on the above post, we had private busses and they have the money to charter jets and we chose to play the best teams in Florida/the country. We went to California and Texas for baseball games pretty frequently and we traveled 4-5 hours in Florida frequently too. If they're not playing Manatee it's because they're choosing to schedule other teams, not because manatee's running

According to the local paper, the Manatee schools have decided not play IMG in any sport. When did you go to IMG? I think lately the area schools view it much more negatively than they did in the past.

quote:

When IMG unveiled plans to field its first football team, it wasn’t a shock that no school in Manatee, Sarasota, Hillsborough, Charlotte or Lee counties offered to play.

Waiting for that ESPN showdown between Manatee and IMG? It’ll probably never happen, says Joe Kinnan, the Hurricanes coach and athletic director.

Manatee County ADs have chosen not to schedule IMG in any sport. Other area schools seem to be waiting from a perceived safe distance, wary of “The Corporation” picking off their best talent.

2010-11. At that time the football "program" was just a series of camps run by Danny wuerffel so honestly I know nothing about it, I was shocked to hear that they even opened a football program because all of the other athletes pay between 40 and 70 thousand a semester to go there and I'm assuming that a way lower percentage of elite football players have that kind of money than baseball, lax, golf, and tennis guys. But thanks for sharing that article, I can definitely see why having ten 5* prospects on a football team is a different animal than having 3-5 top 5 round picks like the baseball team used to have

The real HS teams that have a core of players who have been playing together since they were like 12 years old will still be better

None of these guys were on that team. This past year was the first year that they had a football team. These are all new recruits.

They also blew out some really good teams this past year.

Any HS team with this much talent is going to blow out pretty much anyone. They're having trouble finding teams in Florida that are willing to play them.

Tuition for the boarding school is roughly 70k a year. I bet all those guys are actually paying that.

Holy cow. FSU is gonna thrive with IMG around. Wonder how long it takes Bama to come up with a academy?

It won't be all FSU, but they will certainly benefit with Weinke there.

IMG has always been a sports training facility first. It started as Bollateri Tennis, and trained the likes of Agassi, Sampras, Borg, Becker, Seles, Sharapova, Williams sisters, etc. They added more sports and eventually a full time K-12 school in the '99.

Yea, I'm pretty sure SC and Clemson recruit out of IMG too. Don't know if we've landed anybody.. but we do recruit there.

false. We went to school for 3 hours and trained/did mental conditioning/practiced/worked out/team meetings for 8-10 hours a day year round. We spent more time together in a semester at IMG than normal kids did in a lifetime of being teammates where they only practiced for an hour a day 3 months out of the year
