Here are various TV ratings from the 2012-2013 NCAA athletics season.

Some highlights:

-The NCAA Women's Basketball final got 3-4x the ratings of the College World Series finals

-A meaningless first round Men's NCAA tourney game between 5th seed VCU and 12 seeded Akron, two teams with no national following, that tipped off around 10:00 eastern and featured a depleted Akron squad get blown out by 40 points, got 14 times the ratings as the highest rated College World Series broadcast.

-A random 2nd round NIT game on a Saturday afternoon going up against 2nd round NCAA tournament action, between Stanford and Alabama, outdrew every College World Series game.

-The 2013 College World Series final was as popular with national audiences as whiparound coverage of the 2nd round of the Women's NCAA Tournament on a Monday Night.

-A College World Series game between College Baseball blue bloods LSU and UCLA, with large national fanbases, drew the same rating as whiparound coverage of Women's College Basketball on ESPN2 on a Sunday Afternoon on February. It was also outdrawn by a play in NCAA tournament game featuring Middle Tennessee and St. Mary's, two obscure schools with no national following, on a network many people don't even have(TruTV).

Keep this all in mind when you hear someone on this board say College Baseball is the #2 NCAA sport behind College Football and ahead of College Basketball, or even when they say College Baseball is more popular than Women's College Basketball.

Why do some people insist on hating on college baseball? Is it a jealousy thing of schools like USCe, LSU, Ole Miss, etc that love it?

I don't get it.

I can't watch it. Used to love it when the bats were hot. The CWS went from one of my favorite sporting events, to something I can't even watch. Sad.

Ah frick, someone showed me statistics saying that college baseball is unpopular. Guess I'll stop liking it now and switch to a more popular sport so I can fit in.

ETA1: Also, frick you.

ETA2: Kill yourself, etc.

I will openly point & laugh at anyone who tries to combat college baseball with women's basketball.

They don't call it "boreball" for no reason.

Even the MLB has went to shite. College boreball is down right laughable. Most games end up 1-0 with 4 hits. Also to the poster above saying it's clearly number 3, look again because womens basketball is clearly ahead of it.

Guess what. Still love baseball more than basketball. Sounds like someone got cut from their high school freshman team.

i think if it was on tv more then it would be watched, kept up with, paid more attention to, etc.

since the sec network will now be showing a ton of games, i would think it will grow more popular- the sec at least.

The OP was obviously trolling for a reaction with his comments, but those are some pretty stunning stats.

I would not have guessed that, I'd still much rather watch college baseball than women's basketball though.

IMO the lack of TV for college baseball has hurt its popularity. With SEC network, I think the ratings will be much improved.

We absolutely love baseball at Vandy. Despite having a small alumni base, we consistently rank in the top 25 in attendance. There is nothing like eating hot dogs on a warm afternoon and watching your home run hitter put it over the wall.

I see you're already picking up where you left off last year by making a shite ton of fricktarded threads to remind everyone you don't care about college baseball

Already made 2 this week and the first game hasn't even been played yet

Baseball in general just doesn't translate well to television, college and MLB. It can be very difficult to watch, especially with the offense killing bats/balls.

I enjoy baseball games more than football honestly, although I care more about football. Interest is peaked when you have one of the best, if not the best atmosphere in the country.
