Might money issues signal the end of LSU athletics, avoiding further embarrassment to the program?

There was a day, not so long ago, that this would have been whacked within 20 seconds of posting. Not because it is trolling, either. Mostly, because people were required to at least be funny or witty. Partly because there was a requirement that the post actually make sense and not be stupid.

Let's see how many bites you get.

LSU would be just fine if it'd get rid of LSUA, LSUE, and maybe even LSUS. Louisiana has more division one schools than the state of Florida, who has 4x our population. And of course, Louisiana's constitution only allows cuts in healthcare and education

We'll considering the athletic department makes so much money that they give back to the academic side...

This is a pathetic thread. So pathetic that I'm surprised it wasn't started by an LSUsessed A&M fan. It was started by an Arkansas fan. Step your game up pigs. This is terrible.

I know the post is a joke but just for the sake of it.

Short answer:
LSU athletics is supported by the Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) and does not receive aide from the university. As another poster pointed out they in fact give back to the university.

Poli board answer:
The budget will begin the slow road to recovery once the state gets a governor who cares more about being a governor than a president. Current administration is capable just apathetic.

So right now it sucks for the university but doesn't affect the athletics department.

Glad to know you read the Advocate on a daily basis

Last time I read an Arkansas paper was about 30 years ago on vacation at Degray

Doesn't mean anything for athletics, as LSU Athletics actually can assist the University in that regard.
Temporary crisis for the University. It may be sticky for awhile but LSU and Louisiana have come back from much worse.....Jindal is a puppet.

And there are many universities in this nation with a similar dilemma....

ha ha dumbass OP doesn't realize that LSU athletics is self sustaining and actually donates money back to the school.

The cuts are going to suck, but LSU has been cut before and it will still be here. I was a student, when the first round of budget cuts came under Jindal, all the instructors were pissy because they were going to lose their jobs and some classes were going to be cut, but did they really need 2 sections of Literature and Jazz?

Lsu will light a mountain of money on fire before the football program suffers budgetary issues.

The football team will save them. I don't know how many other SEC teams do this but the football program gives a few million bucks a year to academia. The few liberal educators who hate Jindal want a political issue and maybe they could be called out for squandering financially.
