seriously, it blows my mind how stuff like that actually gets traction.

"hey, let's make something that's essentially facebook...except that it's ONLY pictures". Sounds meh..boom instagram

"hey, let's make something like youtube, only there's a maximum video length of 6 seconds!" Sounds lame as hell...hey vine

"let's make something that is just a facebook status update. But nothing else like facebook, JUST the status update". It'll never work...hello twitter

"let's make something kinda like a facebook wall...you pin things you like on your wall" Sounds boring...now we have pinterest


Some of these ideas just saying them out loud sound so unbelievably stupid and pointless, yet the people who made them are probably billionaires. I don't get it.
