Looks like Texas is proposing a bill that would bar students from public schools if they choose to not vaccinate for personal or religious reasons.
Kudos to them.

I'm shocked that a thread on this topic has gone for 6 pages. Well, I guess I'm not considering this is the OTB. But come on, people.
Public schools are there to serve the public. Requirements to attend them should include all reasonable precautions to preserve what is good for the majority of the general population. I had to be vaccinated against all those common diseases in order to attend. And I don't see any good reason why it should be different now. Protecting the mass of kids in close proximity to one another should be paramount.
Don't want to vaccinate your kids? Want to leave them at risk for polio, measles, etc? Fine. That's your choice. Find a other option for education. Don't put other kids at risk. It's pretty easy to me. Public schools should always do what is best for the majority of the public. That's vaccinating kids against deadly illnesses.
