that 2000 team & the Killer B's...simply ridiculous!

Bouknight 17-1 ... 4 CGs and 2 shutouts ...SEC pitcher of the year
Bauer 13-2 ...2 CGs and 1 shutout
Barber 9-2 ... 15 saves and 3 CGs

...Price and Poston were great too.

The College will be bringing a pretty damn good arm in Bailey Ober with them up to Cola on the 13th.

6'8" 215lb Soph right hander from up around Charlotte...

~~College of Charleston sophomore pitcher Bailey Ober has been named to his second preseason All-American team. The hard-throwing Ober was named to the Perfect Game preseason All-American team on Friday. Earlier in the preseason, Ober was named to Collegiate Baseball's preseason All-American squad. He was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NBCWA) Freshman Pitcher of the Year last season.

Ober finished with a 10-3 record and 1.52 ERA, while striking out 85 hitters and allowing just 19 walks in 106.2 innings pitched. Opposing hitters managed to hit just .192 against Ober.

Gamecocks in the Polls

No. 5 in D1Baseball poll
No. 10 in USA Today/Coaches poll
No. 13 in Baseball America poll
No. 14 in Perfect Game poll
No. 21 in Collegiate Baseball poll

If you take an avg of these, we're in b/w 12th and 13th. That's a good spot to be, IMO. We play all the 3 SEC teams ranked ahead of us, and that will help keep our guys humble to some degree.

At this point in time, I'm more concerned about the Sunday starter and relievers than the hitting. We've recruited some real strong batters the past 3 years. We may not have anyone as dominant as Greiner, but I think overall the batting avg and ob% is going to go up from last year.
