Never said he was a bad coach, just saying once Papa Sam got involved UCLA went from a .600 type team to a .950 type team. He was at UCLA for 15 years or so and suddenly his success goes through the roof when Sam got involved. Bill Walton once said he made more money playing for UCLA than he did in the pros.

Did you ever see the movie "Blue Chips" with Nick Nolte? I think it was based on Wooden and Sam but set in a more modern time. It was interesting Nick's team in the movie wore UCLA's colors. Remember, the NCAA had the evidence on Wooden but they used the excuse of too much time elapsing to punish him and he had already retired. I think it is the reason Southern Cal delayed the Reggie Bush thing for as long as they did. With UCLA as the example I think they thought they could let it drag on and get dropped too.
