Is he stepping down to avoid any potential heat coming from the way alleged rapes by athletes was handled?

that was overplayed by ESPN and of course idiotards on the internet as well. The swimmer girl had all sorts of issues that went beyond what Mizzou could possibly be liable for and Dixon and Washington both got expelled and or charged(in Washingtons case). Yes Alden was at the helm and is culpable as the figure head, but he wasn't covering anything up. Short answer, no not really.
