Had to put my pup down. Lived 16 years and was a great dog.(Silky Terrier)

His name was Rocky.

If you have dogs you know how hard it is during these times. He's no longer in pain though.

I think the family is going to invest in a hunting dog(lab) this time around.

Prayers sent man.

I lost my little guy a year and a half ago. I'm tearing up now thinking about that night. Toughest thing I've ever had to do.

Terrible, terrible feeling.

They bring you so much joy, so it's hard when you have to let them go. Most recently had to put down my 16 year old cat a few months ago - got her before my junior year of college. I was a complete wreck.

Sorry for your loss.

Must be sad dog death day- my aunt/uncle lost their oldie, buster, today too. He's got good stories to tell in dog heaven tho- once he got drunk and fell off the porch and one time he ate a pair of pantyhose and had to have surgery.

I am very sorry for your loss. My lab died a few months back, and I still catch myself looking for her in the back yard from time to time.

Sorry for your loss. If you have kids, hopefully you talk to them about it etc.

My dad shot our dog in the head in front of us without any sort of warning whatsoever. We were all pretty traumatized over that, and I'll never forget it.

I certainly do. I've had dogs my entire life.

They really are a man's best friend. I have never been without a dog for very long before another comes into my life. And a new dog never replaces the one you loved and lost but I've always found that each one has been a blessing that has brought me happiness and joy in their own unique way.

I'm sorry to hear about Rocky. He must have been a great companion.

RIP.

Last night my cat cuddled right up against me under the blankets because she is, for some reason, terrified of snowfall. She's the opposite of most cats--very affectionate and needy. She's more like a dog in the sense of the connection she has with us.

Fortunately she has many years left but someday I know I'll have to deal with this. I've had many family pets pass away before, but this will be the first one I have to deal with as an adult who has to make the decision.
