Exactly. A top 10 recruiting class is good enough to get you in contention for the east most years. The difference between 1 and 10 is astronomical. Here are the 5/4 stars gotten by the #1 ranked class and the #10 class in the classes all the way back to 08.

*08: 3/19...0/17
*09: 4/14...2/9
10: 5/14...2/8
*11: 3/14...2/8
*12: 3/14...0/13
*13: 4/13...2/9
*14: 6/13...2/9

The difference between 1 and 10 is crystal clear. Btw the years with an * denote that bama had the #1 class that year. For people whining and complaining that we aren't as good as bama..well, now you see why. Having the BEST recruiting class 6 of 7 years will do that. Over that time span they brought in 28 five stars compared to the 10 brought in by teams ranked 10th in that class. Sure saban is a good coach, but shite give any good coach that roster and see what happens.

Also going back to 2008, here are the SEC teams that finished AHEAD of us in the rankings:

14: aTm, LSU, UT, bama
13: aTm, auburn, ole miss, LSU, florida, bama
12: auburn, florida, bama
11: bama
10: tennessee, LSU, bama, auburn, florida
09: LSU, bama
08: florida, bama

Has our recruiting been good? Yes, or course! But holy shite. Good is fine I guess until you realize that we're getting worked by the other teams that we PLAY AGAINST every year. If we really want to be serious about a national title, we're going to have to start bringing in top 5 classes YEARLY.
