I honestly think I could post this in every thread sometimes...

WOW, do you folks ever think of each other than the pissy attitudes of how you treat one another.

Why do our fans seem to take the personal attack route so often?

I have refrained from giving my opinion on MA at times for fear of being metaphorically castrated by the apologists and their statistical rhetoric. And in a thread praising Portis, this has turned into a crap show of all things.

In year 4 our defense is not on par to being 40 minutes of anything but.."Thank God we didn't lose to a crappy team at home"
In year 4 our recruiting is not on par with those of us who watched and loved the past successes of Eddie and Nolan.
In year 4 the assistants still need a few changes to make the differences in recruiting and coaching.
In year 4 we are improved some from the past 3 years, BUT... what happens in year 5? Nobody can say for sure, but most likely with Portis out of the equation, you consider the likelihood of what will transpire.

All of the above can be seen as negative FIRST.

then there is this.
in Year 4 our APR is unbelievably great, Finally... especially following the Heath / Red Headed Step Child years.
In Year 4 we are finally ... most likely at least a tourney team
In year 4 we are seeing respect in the SEC and in the national media not seen in years.
In year 4 we are better....

So, with the above am I a good fan, or bad fan? And why is it so dang awful to discuss all of the above rather than tote the line of some people who seem to whine constantly.

Whiners either that Mike isn't good enough OR
Whiners that think Mike is awesome... Whining is whining period if that is the mantra taken.

GEESH!

If you want a discussion, great, expound on:

What was this "crappy team"?

How is this recruiting class not on par? Because it has one player who is one of the top guards in the country?

Since Nolan, two McDonald's AAs have signed with Arkansas, one was Famutini, the other is on this team.

What changes, exactly?

As far as recruiting, in the four years they have signed one "bust", Dee Wagner. That is an incredible hit rate of contributors, especially when compared to the previous two HCs and even Nolan's latter years from 99-2002.

But? What about saving the doom and gloom until improvement stops?

Yes, Portis would be a big loss for the team, however, a player can be inserted into the rotation who can do some needed things better than ports (defense for example), Kingsley isn't the answer here right now, but if anything people should notice how replacing offensive production is easy compared to defensive efficiency and intangibles by the forward we have been trying to replace this year.

Mike's best teams have not had NBA prospects at the forward position, many because his system is a guard oriented system and he will have a damn good roster of guards next season.

There is only a few who "whine", mainly after losses, with wins they have nothing to contribute or talk about.

Several threads on other forums will be on the first page after a win(s) until the next loss when you will have 5 pages of new topics, there are far too many who have nothing to say or contribute until after a loss when they feel their opinion in what all is wrong needs to be heard, even if its the same drivel the spew after every loss.

What many of the above need to realize is Mike isn't going to change his philosophy and coaching style or the playing style of his teams, he isn't going to coach a style of play like your high school basketball coached. He isn't going to run a bastardized form of the Princeton offense like you see in the NBA. He isn't going to play the "keep it close" limited possession style that has ruined college basketball.

People on hog boards seem to be fine and grasp the concept that there is many different theories and styles of play to win football games, while many of these same people think there is only one way to win a basketball game. They can see what each style and strategies in football have different areas of the game each focus on for success but can't see there are statistical categories in the game that don't mean shite to MA, but they think are super important, or that stats they deem meaningless are of great importance to MA and his teams...
