Offenses are babied and have many inherent advantages over the defense. The fact that the ref can't even step in to let everyone get set before a play just adds to it. Instead of empowering officials to control the pace of the game for the sake of fairness, they're being told to get out of the offense's way and just let em go. How do you expect defenses to do anything with the deck stacked against them?

Have subs ready to go at all times just like the offense does. Once a play is over, get them in and out as quick as possible just like the offense does.

This is stupid. If you played football you'd know that offense is proactive while defense is reactive. There are personnel matchups you play. The offense is calling the shots, so there's no possibly way for the defense to be able to recognize every change and expect to have everything ready to go at the same time as the offense. Couple that with the fact that the offense can sub freely while the defense can only sub when it's even possible and it's just not even close to a level playing field.
