I bet you the Alabama players that were so "huge" were probably 5'11" and the biggest was 210. People were a lot smaller back then.
I recall watching (ESPN Classic) I think it was an early 80's sugar bowl with Bama vs Arkansas (SWC). Keith Jackson was the announcer and he announced the size of the starting bama line and I recall the starting right guard weighing 245.
Who'da thunk guys like Cam Newton and Cardale Jones would be quarterbacks now. And good ones.
