Corners who don't cover cost you championships.

What about 3rd string quarterbacks?

Disagree. Its all about the LB coach

The qbs playing in the game don't have near the impact on the outcome that the d line coach does.

They certainly aren't won with future NFL receivers including a pro bowler, NFL caliber rbs, an NFL QB, etc. You lose by 3 tds with those.

In a Line Of Scrimmage League, we have two excellent, proven commodities in terms of recruiting and developing talent at both of those positions.
LSU started an 18 year old former DE coming off an ACL and a True Sophomore last year at Tackle on Defense. At End, the kid who announced he was turning Pro only had 1.5 sacks all damn year.
The regression along our defensive front while we noticeably improved at each of the other levels of our defense was hard to ignore. Considering we had four whiffs along the DL position that were either the same age as Godchaux or classification as LaCoture, we were seriously missing on Evals there and development.
No rational football fan believes LSU would expect not to improve in this area with Orgeron's addition.
At OL, Grimes recruits nationally fairly well, and turned La'El Collins from a Third Team All-SEC LT to an All-American projected 1st Round Pick at LT (may not play there in the NFL).
My point is that the improvements to our staff over the past two football seasons will very likely help improve our team in a very big way at critical positions Miles' staff had previously allowed to slip.
I'm very pleased with the changes we made on staff. We now have four current or former Head Coches on the roster all at the Power 5 level. We have five with either offensive or defensive coordinating experience. There are also five coaches with NFL Position Coach experience. Lastly, there are three former National Recruiters of the Year who have all been Recruiting Coordinators at the Power 5 level.
