Those 2003 & 2004 Patriot teams had very good defenses. The 2007 Patriots team had a great offense and mediocre defense and they lost to the Giants because their offense got shut down.
The Saint's 2011 offense was record setting and they didn't win shite because they didn't have a defense.
ETA: My point is it's easier for a great defense to hold a great offense to less than 20 than it is for a great offense to put up 40 on a great defense.
