He had two average years out of 9. The other 7 were just bad.
And Boy Wonder Butch has finished 11th & 10th in a 14 team SEC in PPG... Can there be extenuating circumstances in every situation or does Butch suck too??
Butch is the HC & runs the whole program. Schott was just the OC working with what he had...
If you can't understand the fundamental differences between how the NFL with a draft works & CFB with a NSD & how that affects a coaches performance & results I don't know what to tell you...

A truly good or great coach usually produces results above the level of talent at his disposal. A mediocre or worse coach produces results that reflect his talent level. I'd buy your argument for a year or two, not every year Schottenheimer has been in the NFL.
