Encouraging post on Scout by a Dawg baseball insider...
quote:
UGA went from dead last in the SEC in HR's last season, to first this season.
That isn't due to the personnel being different, it's due to the personnel being improved physically...
Stricklin brought his own S&C guy with him in Ryan Gearhart and if you talk to anyone who has been around the team, they will tell you that his workouts are night and day different...
Stricklin REALLY emphasizes S&C and competing while you do it. We're a bigger and stronger baseball team because of the improvements he's made in this area.

This team (even during the maddening losses to Mercer) is fun to watch primarily because just about the whole lineup can go yard. With regular power guys like Bowers, Nichols, and Kieboom in the lineup with speedsters like Wrenn, Weber, Bell, and King, it really is a good group of bats. Strike out a little too much for my liking, but they're also young so they'll work it out.
Our biggest issue right now is pitching and a lot of that can be chalked up to injuries. Once we get Tyler and Sosebee back in April, things should even out in the bullpen and during the week. We're having to start a lot of guys that really just aren't ready or have no business starting right now due to the fact that McLaughlin and Walsh are having to pitch the weekends
