There were hints during the end of his recruitment but I figured it was the typical sour grapes from LSU fans and was quite bummed to see him go. His brother acted like a clown too but he worked out fine for Bama.

He's no Janzen Jackson or Michael Dyer though. Still time to get his head straight and brain under control.

The thing about Janzen is that he was never mean in his time at UT or at McNeese. When he was here he just had problems dealing with life in general - you never knew if he'd show up to practice or not but when he did he was a good player and teammate. People had positive things to say about him and his time here and genuinely wanted to help him. And at one point, we thought he'd succeeded in conquering them (he put in the work, went to rehab, even worked a part-time job on campus, only to slide back and fail a drug test).

Looking back it's easy to see that those were early warning signs of a bigger illness - the drug issues and his general inability to cope with life and his odd withdrawal from everyone on occasion all point to that knowing what we know now.

But all of that is from the vantage point of hindsight.

Janzen needed treatment badly when his mother called county health in California begging for an evaluation because he was acting oddly and talking to himself. It's sad that no one got to him in time because I truly feel he is suffering a very serious mental illness and wasn't in his right mind. What happened might've been avoided.

Is this relevant to LSU football?

This is the SEC Rant, baw.

I'm not so sure about A&M taking him right after Sumlin sends the student assistant off the field for basically doing the same thing.
