That series of play calls was one of his worst for sure and yes it happens a couple of times a game. I will admit that

I think Malzahn is one of the best coaches in the game. But that double pass was horrendous. If nothing else, there was a high probability of a turnover or pushing the FG back further.

He does try to get too cute at times. He called a bad game from the start, IMO. We didn't even attempt to run the ball in the first half. It's very head scratching.
