I do. Heck I don't mind the Looch, but the fact is if he didn't exist someone else would fill the niche. Every major fan base has a Looch, for better or for worse. And I think there isn't some hive mind here that you have to hate Looch or Hamm. Obviously some posters here support them or we wouldn't have as much info.

Another element to this, and is much more the group think element, is that we are "liberal" around these parts about our Texas A&M ness. I don't mean anything political, just that the discussions here focus on what A&M is perceived to be, not just the maroon tinted world of many Aggies. The things we let slide here (or own up to completely) like we are gay, jizz jars, Texas isn't a rival anymore, etc. would drive a lot of our tradional fan base - the "Even if we go 1-11 as long as the win is against tu with good Ags I am happy" people- off of a cliff. Those people do just fine in Texags M&W though.

Heck I know some Aggies that would want to kick my arse for the way I represent Aggies on the Rant. And they can all go suck it, as a fan base we have a stick up our arse far too often. To survive here, in corndogland, you need thicker skin and less baseless pride than anywhere else in internet that Aggies roam.

I don't like derailed discussions either, and I do think the bashing goes over the top. With that said I like the negativity sometimes, as it is a breath of fresh air for a fan base that tries to ignore bad thing exist like we live in some 80's sitcom.

More directly, this is a place you can frankly discuss TA/247 without getting dogpiled (and probably banned) by partisans from either side. I'm not saying they're useless all the time. They're not. But there will be times when they are, like during this DC search, and people don't like to hear that. It turns into a grown-up version of console wars where you rationalize and get tribal about that thing you committed money to.

I don't take any side on TA/247 and neither of them are bad people or necessarily always wrong. You just have to know their bad habits. Hamm has a hair-trigger for posting based on extremely thin sources, which gets him scoops but often burns him (for instance, when he linked our players to that robbery). Liucci is more careful but also 100% wedded to the program and does not question or verify "official" leaks even when such things are often misdirection and sometimes (literally) unbelievable.

I like tAggyArk because people can speak their minds anywhere along the spectrum of pumping to melting at any given time. That probably because it's an LSU board so staff has no dog in the fight.

I have no issue at all with the objective talk here, nor do I have an issue with folks going along with the crap they joke about with Ags (I actually think the way we collectively kind of beat them to the punch on Aggie jokes is perfect by talking about filling jars, being gay, etc.) There is some self loathing/BAS but that goes on with any group of Aggies who get together.

A level of negativity and certainly objectivity is a good thing. It's annoying for instance when folks go out out of their way to spin some positive about Malik going to Texas and suddenly acting like he is a crap recruit who will suck at life. Doesn't mean we all need to cry in our beer or that the world is ending but there is no doubt he is a great prospect and would have been a great addition to our class.

I do think that threads here get into bash tests of Texags on occasion that are annoying. Lots of folks seem to be proud of how they were banned there as though it is a rite of passage or something. It's just a site with stricter rules that is focused more toward Old Ags that don't read a lot of other message boards so that is why they come down hard on the cursing and negativity. Loach is too sensitive but in the end the site still puts out an insane amount of quality content.

I like the content here quite a bit and how posters don't take themselves too seriously. It is not for the casual internet lurker. I laugh a lot more on tRant than I ever do on Texags, it's more fun. It also is nice as a pooling source of information that isn't just from one perspective. That's what is best about it.
