It's really just Bama fans that try and disagree about AU being the true national champ in 1983 these days. Insecurity or whatever, doesn't matter.

About every article and analysis of the 1983 season in the past ten years has concluded AU was the 1983 NC.

You were 3rd in AP and Coaches. It would be wiser to complain about '04

Like USA Today?

"fabrication", "highly flimsy".

Or maybe Tony Barnhardt of the AJC?

""That run deserved a national championship," said Housel. "But it just wasn't to be."

"Despite the disappointment of not winning the national championship, the 1983 Auburn team remains one of the most revered in school history. "

Or perhaps you mean ESPN?

"But not as impressive as its shocking win over the Huskers in perhaps the greatest championship game ever played, a victory that propelled Miami to five titles over an 18-year period, an era of dominance unmatched since."

Well, Bama fans and the two major polls of the day.

And everybody but Auburn fans.
