How much support do Bama students and fans give the basketball program?

Auburn went out and got Bruce Pearl, but the upper deck of the arena is still mostly empty. Makes me think Auburn will never get over the hump of being a bad basketball program.

Auburn sold out season tickets for basketball. Of course, some of those people might not show up for every game

It takes time to build it. The product isn't great at the moment. Last night's win will build some excitement. Plus it's Christmas and the students aren't there. Plus season tickets are sold out. So suck on that one.

Meh. The support is meh. When our team is good we show up. When we suck arse and are forced to watch horrible offenses year after year we don't go. We are probably right there with most SEC teams not named Kentucky Florida or Arkansas.

We sold out b-ball season tickets. We got off to a slow start without our full roster, conference play hasn't even started, and we still had an almost full arena last night while school is out and the students aren't even there. If you think AU isn't supporting B-ball and isn't going to have a LOT of packed out home games this year, you have no clue and will see soon enough.

As for bama, I was thinking about the question posed earlier this morning. In 75 years, bama has made the NCAA tourney 20 times. They have only made 1 elite 8 and never a final four.

I would say Grant's program right now is about the norm for bama hoops. Make the NCAA tourney once every 3 years or so and generally get bounced first round.

Bama could fire Grant and I think they will because of what is happening with AU, but I doubt it will help any, especially with AU hoops about to be a NCAA tourney regular with Pearl. AU has the #11 recruiting class in B-ball right now and a class like that should easily make the tourney next year and probably win one, maybe two in the tourney.

Note, I am not saying AU is better than bama in basketball historically. AU was just fortunate to hit a grand slam with the Pearl hire and the question for bama is who would they get if they fire Grant that could compete with Pearl for recruits. I think no one as Grant is actually a great recruiter as it is.
