Just curious what those outside of the program think about it. Should we just accept that we are a middle tier team and be happy with high seed NIT bids? Should we fire Grant? Can Bama realistically attract a better coach than Grant?

What in bama's history says they are above mediocrity and should be "settling"?

Have they ever been able to attract a better coach or have they always took a gamble with the up and comer?

Bama is mediocre in basketball now? Hunh, I thought you guys were just terrible like the rest of us. But, in answer to your question, Bama is happily mediocre because your fans don't care enough for you to be anything better.

Get some of those deep pocket boosters that flock to the football team to start splashing a little cash on the basketball program and you will get better coaches, who will get better players, who will get you a shot at being a basketball powerhouse.

How much support do Bama students and fans give the basketball program?

Auburn went out and got Bruce Pearl, but the upper deck of the arena is still mostly empty. Makes me think Auburn will never get over the hump of being a bad basketball program.

What would be the purpose of having the basketball program then if we were going to do that? In Grant's first 3 years, Coleman was mostly sold out all the time and the team was competitive. Hell we went undefeated in Coleman in his 2nd year. People are tired of being let down. Fire Grant, get a fricking coach who can sell the program better and produce some quality wins. Talent is there, the coaching is not.

Absolutely blows in general. Even if Alabama was good, I still wouldn't watch it because I hate basketball. I'd support them sure, but I just couldn't care less. Probably cause of people like me why our basketball program hasn't gone anywhere.

frick mediocrity.

Whether you think Bama is or has been a good basketball program doesn't matter. It COULD be a very good program with the right coach and support. And I'm not talking about fan support. Despite what the clueless on here say, there are a lot of Bama basketball fans, and a lot of other people who would really like to be if the team wasn't so predictably mediocre every year. Win and the fans will return.

Being pumped about Bama in basketball has taken a beaten over the last 20 years. It doesn't take much to take away interest, nor does it take much to revive it.
Bama has just absorbed so many. 500 seasons, one can't take but so much and just learn to accept it.
For an analysis, take a look at Auburn s football team from 2012 to 2014 and the losses to aTm. The loss to the Aggies in '12 was much worse on paper, yet was more "accepted" by auburn fans than 2014's loss due to expectations. Same with Bama basketball. Back in the day, Bama would make the tournament with normality, seeded between 2 and 9. There were always expectations of a sweet 16, and when it didn't happen, it was tough to absorb. Now, we can't do anything worth a crap in basketball, Bama fans just have to accept it, since nothing will seemingly be done about it.

I couldn't care less about basketball. I'll watch us if we're on but Alabama is rarely on in Denver so meh.
