2000-2009 the SEC had Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Georgia as the "elite" teams Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss as the "good" teams (over various seasons)

2010-current has had Alabama, LSU as the "elite" teams and Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina as the "good" teams with A&M, Missouri bringing up rear mainly because they joined so recently.... Although Missouri could be considered "good" with 2 straight East titles.

Neither Edit UTk or UGA were elite in 2000-2009, Auburn had the best team of that stretch.

Auburn is elite currently BCS title, 2 SEC titles and another BCS title game. LSU is border line without a BCS title in that time frame.
