To be honest, I was thinking of a thread where an Auburn fan mentioned that you had no 5* players on your starting defense, along with 7 4*, 3 3* and a 2* player.
Carl Lawson- 5*
Monty Adams- 5*
Elijah Daniel- 4*
Davonte Lambert- 4*
Cass McKinzy- 4*
Kris Frost- 5*
Tre Williams- 5*
Jon Jones- 3*
Josh Holsey- 4*
Rudy Ford- 4*
Tray Matthews- 4*

There's talent, they just need coaching

I made that post, but it was in context to this years starters. Lawson didn't play which was huge since he was the pass rusher in the group. Monte was essentially fighting for playing time with a 2 star Ben Bradley most of the season. Lambert was a 3 star out of high school I don't trust the upgrade ratings of JUCO's because there are so few to rate they usually get bumps that don't work out so well.

Krist Frost and Rudy Ford are both playing a position as 4 stars that they weren't rated at in High School.

Jon Jones was a 3 star on rivals but not rated on 247.

There is talent on our defense but the stars can be misleading. People see what they want to see. Monte shows signs of greatness but is so inconsistent a 2 star started in front of him much of this season. Jon Jones made some All SEC list but also look terrible at times though much better than most of our DB's. Tray is a huge up grade. But Hosely a HS 4 star looked noticeably slower this year than his freshman year prior to his injury.

I believe there is enough talent to get the job done, but anybody expecting what Florida and Bama have produced the last few years defensively isn't paying close enough attention to the talent.

Williams, Ruffin and Roberts all showed signs of ability I look forward to seeing them progress.
