the comment section is telling..

we're not the only ones tiring of GM's bullshite and the current president is cyphoning funds to academic endeavors just like Adams did.

however, anything short of D.Leeburn barking loudly isn't gonna change the trainwreck in Buttsmear

I don't see the problem....if you the not the best at you job, and Richt and company aren't and they prove so every season, then you have no reason to expect to be paid like the best. It doesn't make any difference if schools who have done less are paying more....that is their decision to make. If they wish to throw money at people who arent worth it that is a decision that will come back to haunt them.

Richt is not a champion. He could be...he has the ability...but he is simply too willing to accept mediocrity without getting too high or too low. This is in the mans DNA and it will never change. There is a reason he stayed at Miami knowing he wasn't going to play there and also knowing he could probably start somewhere else...because there is little or no pressure when you aren't the best.

This is also why he isnt being paid as much as his counterparts...because he doesn't want to ratchet up the expectations that would come along with more money and he for sure doesnt want the pressure that would come along with starting over somewhere else. This is why he is almost never mentioned for other jobs because no one thinks he could be enticed to leave UGA because we are a perfect marriage for a person like Richt. His demeanor would last about a week in Tuscaloosa or Baton Rouge.

There are only a few things that would cause any change. If he starts losing to Tech on the regular he will get the Jim Donnan treatment. For whatever reason Richt has Tech's number and this isn't likely. He could also have a string of 6 or 7 win seasons but again that isn't likely considering how weak the SEC east and the fact that we are almost guaranteed 5 wins a season with 2 rent a wins, UK, Vandy and GT on the schedule. Going 3-3 against the rest of the SEC, especially when you only play Alabama and LSU every 20 years or so, is no great feat.

Richts is as good as it gets at UGA. If he stays long enough we will probably win a couple of nattys. It will be pure luck and will require some serious Auburn type smiling on us by the Gods but we are due. I dont think he stays that much longer. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't retire in 4 - 5 years and I dont think we win a natty in that period.

the AA’s revenues exceeded the expenses by over $15 Million. If these same numbers were for Gaskill Inc instead of a 501 (c) we would call that $15 million “profit.”I am a long time Hartman Fund and Basketball Fund contributor. I have to ask, why am I writing checks to a 501 (c)3 that does not spend $15 million towards it’s purposes and accumulates a net worth (it calls it “net position ” ) of over $300 million?

“That’s about where we are,” he said. “That’s about where we should be. Are we there with LSU, and Alabama and Auburn of recent years? Probably not, because they’ve done great things, they’ve played in the bigger bowls. They’ve had great success on a national level better than us. So it’s all reflective of performance.”

Not sure why he says stuff like that publicly. I honestly don't think he realizes the way most of what he says comes across. It's not just with this, it's basically with everything he's had to publicly address. He needs a PR guy handcuffed to him that goes everywhere with him that he has to consult with before he speaks.

My problem with the above is that it's clearly "the rich get richer." You can't approach it as "well, they're more successful so they can hire more 'consulting staff' and can spend more on recruiting and can have nicer facilities." Maybe, just maybe, doing those things are a factor in their success...I'm just sayin'....

From the SEC Rant... below are just SEC games.

atlua LINK /

Nick Saban — $7.1 million 50-11 (just at Bama)
Kevin Sumlin — $5 million 13-11
Les Miles — $4.3 million 56-24
Hugh Freeze — $4 million 11-13
Steve Spurrier — $4 million 44-36 (just at SC)
Gus Malzahn — $3.8 million 11-5
Butch Jones — $3.6 million 5-11
Mark Stoops — $3.6 million 2-14
Jim McElwain— $3.5 million
Gary Pinkel — $3.4 million 63-50 (16-8 since joining SEC)
Mark Richt — $3.3 million 78-34
Bret Bielema — $3.2 million 2-14
Dan Mullen — $3 million 22-26
Derek Mason — Private 0-8

This makes it look like McGarity is a genius, we have a really good deal going on. Best bang for the buck in the conference.

Let's face it folks, what we have in place now is a President, Jere Moorhead, who is the exact opposite of Adams. He is a lifelong academic who the Board of Regents put in place to be non-controversial after the years of Adams controversy. He, in my opinion, will also be very timid to "rattle the cages" in Athens.

The Athletic Board runs the show and McGarity is their hire. The UGA President is also head of the Athletic Assn. They are responsible for looking at athletics across the board, both men's and women's. They love to use the success of the mid level programs as overall athletic success at UGA.

So, until the football fans make it known by either withholding $$$ or convincing the Athletic Board that we want the best and won't settle for anything less, nothing is going to change.

Didn't Georgia come up only 5 yards short against Bama two years ago for a trip to the MNC game?

This was done under the same regime and amidst all of the things you people are whining about in this thread wasn't it?

I'm not saying there aren't legitimate criticisms, but this attitude that Georgia will never be able to get out of its own way to succeed sounds pretty foolish in light of recent history, imo.
