It's been the confluence of a lot of things.
To me the biggest factors in where we are right now was MA's failure to recruit anyone his last season here. The terrible roster imbalance he left was a big part of what scared off better candidates than Haith. Haith was under the gun from the moment he was announced as coach, and I'm sure he didn't feel he could bite the necessary rebuilding bullet, so he went the transfer route to keep things afloat.
Then the whole Miami mess happened, which surely hurt his efforts to recruit HS talent-and whether that was the case or not, his recruiting failure on top of what MA did his last year here left us where we're at today. KA had no choice but to bite the bullet on the rebuilding, and he might have done that any way. The thing that's killed us the last few years is the lack of continuity in the roster. Now we have a roster completely lacking in experience and knowing how to play together. But there are signs lately they are coming together a bit.
Patience is necessary, but patience is in short supply among the fan base, for whatever reason.
