Could end up that way. He and Barnett are both elite prospects, imo.

I think it's pretty much a lock that Coker will be the starter next year. Unless one of the young pups just blows the staff away.

No way it isn't Coker in 2015. Beyond that who knows.

He has looked good in his PT. There was one game (I think A&M) where he came in and the backup OL had him running for his life. He'll put up good numbers next year in this offense.

2015 Coker
2016 Bateman/Cornwell
2017 Bateman/Cornwell
2018 Cornwell/Barnett

Cornwell has apparently learned the offense well early on. I see Bateman getting the nod though, and then Cornwell staying until he leaves for the draft/graduates

Cornwell is a RS fresh next year, is he not?

Yeah, in 2015 Cornwell will be a Redshirt Freshman. Bateman will be a Redshirt Sophomore. Barnett will redshirt.

In 2016 move everyone up one. If Bateman sticks around til then, I could see him getting the job, but that'd be one hell of a three way battle.

I say Coker will get the start, with Cornwell beating out Bateman for 2nd, Barnett red shirting, and then sadly, Bateman transferring. Tons of competition at the QB position next year

I'm not sold on Coker. I actually think his inability to get the ball out on time(he's not even close) and his weird inability to make the simplest of throws negates any arm talent that he has.

We have a lot of great players trying for one spot.

Not a bad position to be in.

I don't think Coker starts either... of course he can definitely get better but so can the other guys... I'm not real big in to arm strength like others seem to be. I think Bateman or Morris actually win... one of those 2 may transfer. and we still have Barnett and Cornwell.. we are about to become QB U!

Coker in 2015, then it is a Bateman/Cornwell/Barnett battle in 2016.

This is the most likely scenario. Coker will have to do something to lose the starting job at this point. Right now, Alec Morris is the #3 guy so the interesting battle will be to see who's the #2 guy in 2015.

In 2015
Alec Morris JR* (Composite 3 Star)
Cooper Bateman SO* (Composite 4 Star)
David Cornwell FR* (Composite 4 Star)
Blake Barnett FR (Composite 5 Star)

*=Used Redshirt

I can't think of a time when Bama has been in such a great position as far as backup QBs go. Whoever gets the nod in 2016 is going to have to beat out some serious competition to get that spot.

Of course there will be attrition, so get ready for that.

What makes you think that it is his to lose already? Just curious.

He gets all the backup snaps, not Morris or Bateman. Well, Morris does get snaps, but he doesn't get to throw.

He's looked good.

Since Saban is a softy for older players, he probably doesn't want to waste Coker's transfer.

We have guys (Bateman/Cornwell) who can take the job from him with their talent. He's talented too.

I'm cool with anyone of the guys starting, but right now the obvious answer is Coker. And it'd be a nice story too. Transfers from Thug U to play for his childhood favorite, then leads them to a title. Bonus points if we play FSU next year. It writes itself.

AllBamaDoesIsWin picked up my slack on this one. Exactly what I would say.

I wonder if Coker could transfer again. I feel bad, he could probably start at Texas, I just think if Kiffin is still heading up the offense, he'll go with someone else.

Guess we'll see. Like I said, I think he'll start, and have similar (if not better) passing stats as Sims. JMO.

What?

Kiffin loves Coker.
