McGarity suggested a number of story lines for the game, in addition to Grantham. Georgia has never played in Charlotte. It’s also a chance to earn a 10th win for the 21st time in program history (and ninth under head coach Mark Richt), and then there’s “a legitimate shot” of finishing in the top 10, depending on how other teams fare.
ehh
I refuse to enjoy watching my alma mater/team I root for play football for the last time this year. fricking Belk bowl

When did they start playing 12 game regular seasons?

A better comparison is how many times have we lost less than 2 games in a single season? Compare that to the Richt era
Richt has lost 2 games or less 4 times in 14 years... 28.6%
Dooley lost 2 or less 9 times in 25 years... 36%
Butts lost 2 or less 6 times in 22 years... 27.3%

So I believe looking at 1 or less loss seasons.....
Wally Butts had 4.
Dooley had 6.
Richter has 1.

Look at the numbers. Numbers don't lie.

Also, what was the state of the program in the late '80s due to violations, etc? And our next two coaches - Donnan and Goff... how did our program fare? Now, let's factor in how the program has righted itself under Richt.
For the Richt haters, look at the numbers. Same for Bobo haters. The numbers don't lie. Just sayin...
People want to bitch about that "squib" kick in the Tech game, but guess what - that kind is in the playbook for under a certain amount of time left. Where the blame lies is on the players, not the coaches...

It's an absurd comparison.NOBODY had an easier
path to the SECC than VD.And an easier SEC
schedule.
We played Vandy,UK and Ole Miss every year.Arguably the 3 weakest SEC schools
in that time period. The other 2 (AU and UF)
had a combined total of 1 SECC up until 1982.
Plus a rotation game (UT,LSU,Bama,MSU)There was
also no SECCG.UGA could sleep walk through a season and win at least 7 games.

Conversely, I think that UGA plays a harder OoC schedule under Richt than any other coach, more SEC games, and the addition of an SEC championship game playing clearly a real good SEC team.
It wasn't that long ago that one loss doomed a team from a NC. Now, that is and will continue to be less frequent.
