What? It was very obviously a fumble. The whistle was at least a full second after the ball was already on the ground.

The whistle is irrelevant. Fowler's forward progress was stopped and he was forced backward not of his own volition.

No matter when the whistle blew, the play was over when progress stopped. Replay would have upheld the call on the field.

Forward Progress was called, and you can't review forward progress calls. Otherwise, why bother tackling, just gang up and carry the running back all the way into the endzone for a safety.

Nope. Forward progress was not only stopped but being pushed backwards. Discuss the pick play or push offs if we are going to get nitpickie.

Announcers said that the officials ruled that his forward progress was stopped and that isn't reviewable.

I was at the game, but if I hadn't watched the replay today, I would have no idea what play you're talking about.
