Not an FSU fan but...

I find it pretty weird they have dropped to #4?
Defending champions. Undefeated. Shouldn't move until they lose.
People arguing narrow wins, weak schedule...
Look at Oregon... They don't play anyone all year and are always super hyped. Lost to Arizona. Played 3 ranked opponents all year. Number 2.
Look at Alabama... (Inb4 butthurt and all that crap). Strong schedule, no arguing there but still have a loss to their name. AND had some nail biters as well correct?
Look at TCU... Same thing. One loss. Some narrow wins...
Not here to argue against Alabama being #1, rather here to argue FSU should be #1.
Just weirded out by this new system this year.

I think they are doing it for geographically matched semi-final games.

Doesn't matter if they're 1 or 4. Not good enough to beat any of the other 3.

Dude, FSU hasn't just snuck by a couple teams. They've had 6-8 games where it's impossible to tell if they were even the better team on the field.
If you think they are the best team in the country, then have them #1. But this committee doesn't think they are, and neither do I.

they just haven't looked good against their weak schedule.
Constantly playing form behind against far inferior teams.

Nail biters yes but nail biters against some good teams, my friend. Not Louisville, Notre Dame, Boston College, etc. RMFT!!!

They went undefeated last year and beat the SEC Champ in the BCS title game.
They are still undefeated.
They should have been ranked #1 since the BCS title game and they should stay #1 until they lose a game.

I agree with the OP. And the disrespect just provides more ammo for Jimbo to use as motivation.
Them at #4 is a crock.

I agree with you FSU has been winning despite Jameis not because of him. When Jameis plays as well as he can, then they can beat every single team in the country, but unfortunately he has been playing pretty bad this year.
That being said, they still have the best kicker in college football, second best RB (Dalvin Cook is a monster), great WR corps, best TE in college football, one of the best DEs in football, and just a ridiculously talented defense at most spots. They are vulnerable in their pass blocking and their young DBs, but that's about it. They are as good as it gets in college football against the run and running the ball.

If you're FSU wouldn't you rather be ranked 4th and play Bama in New Orleans than 3rd and playing Oregon in Pasadena? It would be much more of neutral site game.

Last year is, and should be, irrelevant.

I don't think it is just the narrow wins, it is more that they've consistently played like crap until they figured it was time to wake up.
Hopefully GT will make this whole question moot. Most hated team since Miami '80s. And hated for good reason.

FSU should be #1. Bama either 2 or 3, doesn't matter. This committee is really dumb. Remember, Bama was 5 for first three weeks and then magically #1. Makes no sense, defies logic.

I'm no FSU fan either but I can remember people saying back in '92 that Bama was the worst undefeated team in the nation. All they did is win the NC. Some teams play up or down to the competition. When FSU feels like they are in danger of losing, they step up. They won't be easy to knock off.

None of this should matter. Last year has nothing to do with this season. If a team performs better than them, then they should absolutely drop.

They have won games but it's the fashion in which they are winning them. I was at a the BC/FSU game & 1 or 2 play go different FSU gets beat by an unranked BC team in their own stadium. They are not a great football team. I'm thinking GT is going to beat their arse tomorrow.

FSU deserves to be #1, and if Bama went undefeated, won a natty, and was the only undefeated team in the regular season, but wasn't ranked #1 in the country, I would be super fricking pissed.
The committee is definitely basing a hell of a lot of shite on the "eye test". I think TCU>Baylor, but wouldn't have the ego to rank TCU over Baylor.
It's like they feel their opinion as football "experts" >what happens on the field

Honestly does it matter? 1-4 are completely interchangeable now a days. Might as well make them 1a - 1d. As long as you make that top 4 your rank is meaningless.

If they weren't defending champions nobody would have a problem with it. They're playing closer games than 2012 Notre Dame.

thats just ignorant to say oregon dont play anybody pac 12 is pretty good
ucla, michigan st, zona, utah, stanford, washington then zona again in the title game i know not all those teams are great but i believe the pac 12 is way better then the acc
i think TCU's schedule is a good bit tougher then FSU's too
