Battle of Wilson's Creek (aka Battle of Oak Hills - Confederate name) - Springfield, Missouri.

The Union general who died also sympathized with the kansas jayhawkers. His name was Nathaniel Lyon.

This jayhawk sympathizer was single handedly responsible for a massacre in St. Louis that involved normal citizens that were upset that he held Missouri militia members as prisoners of war.

On August 10th, 1861, Missouri confederates and militia exacted revenge upon Nathaniel Lyon outside of Springfield, MO at the Battle of Oak Hills (Wilson Creek - Union name). General Lyon would become the first Union General killed in the Civil War when he was shot in the heart on Bloody Hill at about 9:30 a.m. while leading the 2nd Kansas Infantry in a countercharge.

So what's the point of this thread?

Missouri was "confederate" before y'all even came up with the Confederacy.

Missouri was fighting the Civil War long before y'all even thought about acting like rebels.

Missouri was dixie long before y'all even knew what dixie meant or created a song about it.

The Southeastern Conference wouldn't be known today as a culturally "southern" conference had Missouri not jumpstarted the Civil War in 1856 when a Civil War battle known as the Battle of Black Jack was fought in southeast Kansas five years before Confederate cannon pounded Fort Sumter in the harbor of Charleston, S.C.

Missouri's star shines bright on y'alls flag.

Missouri is the pride of the south!!!

Well, it's clear that after the Ferguson stuff, you guys are trying to emulate 1960's Birmingham.

Now that's dedication to being southern.

Clearly, someone is unfamiliar with the Nullification Crisis of 1832.
