He's a good coach, and he at least has proven (albeit at a smaller level) that he can quickly turn around a program AS A HEAD COACH. I do think Florida is the kind of place where you should be able to hire someone who has proven themselves at the highest level, though.

yes ...
bama and osu got lucky with their home run hires ... there are no home run hires out there ... chip kelly is not leaving the nfl ... brian kelly might ... might ... leave the dame ... that's it ...
ya'll have to gamble and hire someone who's up&coming ... we've all been there ...

How often does this happen?
I mean everyone says it likes it's fricking automatic, but it doesn't happen that often.
Texas gets Strong. Are they not good enough to get a proven coach who's "done it at the highest level"?
How about USC? Sarkisian is the best the can do?
Michigan? Rich Rod? Hoke? That's the highest level?
Face it. It's a fricking myth. Coaches that are worth their salt at the highest level don't leave. If they do, they are past their prime or heading to the NFL. Money is even and is no longer a true factor. With the playoff, anyone can win a championship.
Big programs get coaches with potential from good programs and hope they turn out great.
That's how things work these days.
