I will say this. Its not the numbers per se its the timing of these game changing calls.

I'm not talking about Alabama specifically, but in general, the total number of penalties isn't a good way to judge if a game was officiated fairly. If one team is blatantly holding every play, the other team is not, but both teams are called for the same number of holding penalties, then the former team is benefiting from bad or biased officiating.
