Winning would cure the attendance/money issues. They finally have a coach that can recruit, coach, and raise money and they didn't give him a chance. Attendance was up this year and they are bowl eligible for the first time in almost ten years.
bullshite. Go back and read my previous post. On their first opportunity to get bowl eligible a couple of weeks ago, only 9,400 showed up. To see them try and get bowl eligible for the first time in 10 years.
Has attendance been up this year? Sure. But don't kid yourself into thinking that it's because of UAB. The athletic director predicted increased attendance for 2014 a year ago:
"Obviously, we would want more fans, and we never have had a problem meeting that 15,000 requirement by the NCAA," he said. "The reason I'm not concerned is next year we have a very good home schedule. We have Troy the first game of the year. They travel. And our third game of the year will be against Alabama A&M, and they have very good crowds that follow them. Next year bodes well for scheduling."
UAB administration admitting that they have to rely on visiting teams to meet the 15,000 minimum attendance figure mandated by the NCAA.
