Used to be the participating school got a share for their game after expenses.
Then, the rest was put in the pot & divided by the member institutions & the league office.
So, in effect, 2 shares for the participating school.

Right, but I don't think the first share covers all expenses, just a portion of them and a travel expense.
The rest is put into a pot, and distributed 15 different ways. One for each member and a piece for the league office.
