Yes, i was aware of that. However, 13 of those 2-3 loss teams were named since 1980, and they were named AFTER the Bowl games.

Here is a disclaimer....these are National Champions named by a major news sources and some of these are not recognized as the true National Champions. However, some of them are also claimed by the schools that were named.

SOME were named by MOST of the National Media. LSU in 2007, for instance was 12-2 and they are recognized by most.

But any way you slice it, a 11-2 team is an excellent team. Yet all we want to do on here is yell, "It's Richt's fault!"

AND, lest we forget, under any circumstance that 2 loss team is still considered the National Champion and a great team.
