I'm largely surprised at the response to this game

We won 6 games and we are going to a bowl. Before this season that was a pipe dream for some fans. A lot of talking heads picked us to go 3-9 again and so did a lot of Hog fans. The fact that we're bowl eligible with this schedule is a huge accomplishment in a rebuilding year.

I just can't believe some of our fans are melting down because of this game. It didn't even matter at all. I could understand it if we lost this game to make us 5-7.

Yeah, I'm disappointed that we lost, but it doesn't change my view that this season has been a success. We got to a bowl game despite having the toughest schedule in college football with a team that went 3-9 last season.

I think the fact that we were up 14-3 before the wheels started to come off with the field goal time out is what is making this worse.

It seemed like we were going to have our way with them but with every drive you could see Allen getting worse and worse. That also made the eventual result of the game more agonizing to me.

I don't really see how or where people are melting down. Nearly everybody has wanted Chaney gone all year, and it's not unreasonable to be mad at Bielema for refusing to pull a hurt quarterback who was throwing passes five yards past open receivers.

The season overall was very promising. We COULD have won several more games but we didn't, and we still exceeded expectations. We've got a bowl game and we're gonna kick arse next year. Overall, a very positive year.

Dude......

6-6 was nice, it was right in the middle of where pretty much almost all of our posters thought we'd be.

Howfrickinever, 6-6 was soooooo damn close to being 10-2, 9-3 at worst. That's the painful part that is bringing the frustrations back.

add in the realizations that our coach is pretty full of shite on the player safety issue, and that's going to make defending him a chore over the offseason.

add in the fact that we had really hoped we'd turned the proverbial corner and the ailments of those games we gave away came back in a hurry when Chaney couldn't adjust his gameplan. The biggest issue my circle of Hog fans have w/ Chaney is once the opposing Defense adjusts and stacks the box and sells out to stop the run and we have to rely on Brandon Allen and Chaney to preserve the lead with a abhorrent passing game, we're toast. All of that came back and brought a lot of our hopes back to Earth with a thud.

It really irks us too that a dude making $3 mil + doesn't seem to realize what us Joe Blow fans have seen and bemoaned about all season long.

As for the future, we really need to not put all of our eggs in the Ty Storey basket. I think we need a 2nd QB in this class as a safety net. Chaney's not going to develop the QB's like we need/want them to be. We're getting worried that these guys that will be extremely experienced come their Jr/Sr. years will have given all they have for not because we have a coach that refused to pull the trigger and make an upgrade in an area that is a glaring weakness because it might cause a strain w/ our best assistant coach.

Bert will clean house when and where it's needed as evidenced by sweeping out all of the defensive coaches but Shannon after last season. The only coaches I could see having some nerves about keeping their jobs would be the WR and RB coaches, and hopefully the OC.

We would've been ranked. We lost that. Doubt we will now even if we win our bowl. I picked us at 9-3 to start the season. And we should've been. Just because some dumbass talking heads picked us worse doesn't mean shite. We shite out a great season with piss poor second half play calling. I'm no fan of BA, but at the same time, it's up to the coaches to call plays that emphasize our strengths and minimize our weaknesses. We kicked their asses, but once again got outcoached. This time by fricking Gary Pinkel. BB will build a good team, but I have never seen him do shite in game here or at Wisconsin. He's still young and hopefully will learn from his mistakes, but doesn't appear to after the shite show we put on in the second half.

At some point,, doesn't a coach have to protect a QB from himself?

What do you people think the team confidence-level will be after watching the B Allen film on this one?

Never seen anything like that. Ever.

No melt here but my buddy was yelling and drinking all over the damn place. Once I explained to him that the importance of this game was going from the toilet bowl to the trash can bowl, and that us getting the extra practice was the most important thing anyway, he simmered.

We're disappointed in THIS GAME, and rightly so.
We SHOULD have won this one. It was doubly frustrating due to whoever made the call to leave BA in there.

The season? I think it lived up to, or even a little beyond realistic expectations.

I'm not melting. But Chaney's playcalling, combined with BA being a liability in the second half make it harder to take.

Put in Austin, let him get us 2-3 more first downs in the second half, it changes the whole game. The defense gets to rest and stops Mizzou one more time. We maybe get a FG at least. Brandon was missing easy throws badly. That's why people are pissed. To the average fan, it looked like Allen was begging to come out. According to Bielema, it was the opposite.

I'm happy with a bowl, and give zero fricks re: Missouri. But that was just another game our shitty playcalling and some crazy circumstance took away from us in the 4th qtr. Hard one to lose for those reasons alone.

Combine our lack of depth + the penalties + the shitty replays + Mizzou senior day + Mizzou playing to win the east, I'm surprised we didn't lose by more.

And actually, we probably should of won the game. Which I would imagine is where a lot of the grumbling is coming from.
