Typically insurance doesn't cover things like riots, war, etc.. And I doubt any insurance companies would have let them add on to their current plan anyway knowing what's going to happen.

True. But it boggles the mind that, (1) so few businesses were boarded up, and (2) so few business owners were on site to protect their businesses. Everyone knew the police weren't going to do anything to protect private property, just like last time.
