I was fortunate enough to beat melanoma - caught at exactly the right time as it was starting to spread and any longer and I'd have been dead at 21 despite not having the usual risk factors. Owe my life to my mom who spotted it and forced me to go get it checked.

I PRAY Eric does the same. He deserves all the good fortune in the world. Cancer is simply awful and too many near me have died from it recently.

Kick it's arse Eric!

How did she know/what was the sign that tipped her off? I have a family history of skin cancer/melanoma and I've been terrified of it. I'm really bad about not wearing sunscreen too. I had a full check by a dermatologist 2 years ago and had a spot cut out just precautionary, but I'm 21 now so your story got me thinking again.

Great !
You certainly dodged a bullet. Mine wasn't melanoma but life changes when the doc says the word "cancer".
