Robinson's safety early on was the turning point, IMO. Dan called plays way too conservative after that until the 2nd half.

There's a lot to be determined for MSU even if they win out. Assuming Alabama doesn't stumble (giving MSU the SEC West) other schools may move up in the minds of the committee.
Why? Right now there's supposedly not much difference between #s 4 and 7 - but teams 5-7 can still win their conference. Right now the only factor not weighed in the committee's rankings is who won their conference and who didn't - that could mean some disappointment if you are ranked #4 going into the last week but don't win your conference.

Posters here will try to make you feel guilty for wanting to get into the playoff without playing in the SEC title game but don't fall for it. If MSU gets in they will have deserved it (and especially so if 2 of FSU, Oregon, Ohio Srate, TCU, or Baylor lose). The equivalent of all 5 of those teams losing happened at the end of the 2011 season yet people STILL bitching about Alabama getting in over Oklahoma State who is the equivalent of this year's Ohio State team. People were angry that #7 Oklahoma State didn't leapfrog #3 Alabama when #2, #4, #5, and #6 went on to lose.

I think the only way Moo State gets in without winning the SEC is Mizzou beats Bama or UGA loses to Tech and beats Bama. You would also have to have Ohio St, Florida St, or Oregon drop a game.
I have a hard time seeing them let two SECw teams in without a lot of help. I'm still not convinced a two-loss UGA team that would have beaten #1 Bama and win the SEC would be jumped by a team that couldn't even win their division, especially after 2007 when they held UGA out of it because they didn't even win their division.

MSU will fall out the top 4 after the Egg Bowl. The Egg will stay in Oxford.

And have TCU and Ohio State lose another game. Make no mistake about it. A one loss Big 10/Big 12 champion is getting in over State.
TCU has a very comparable resume to State right now and if you give them a conference championship, they'd beat State out for the final spot.

MSU fans shouldn't think they have anything locked up with 2 more wins.
There is a very real chance the committee puts Ohio State or TCU/Baylor ahead.
You have no idea how much weight being a conference champion will carry.
The rankings right now don't reflect it. If MSU is sitting at home idle on championship weekend and Ohio State wins the Big 10 championship game decisively, don't be too terribly surprised if OSU jumps MSU.
It may not happen, but it may.
In 2011 Alabama was idle during championship weekend and Oklahoma State crushed Oklahoma, and Alabama's huge lead on OSU in the polls shrank to razor thin.

So will CUSA, the Sunbelt and every other fricking conference. If your SoS sucks a conference championship ain't gonna matter a bit. Especially in the case of the B1G and tOSU. Wisconsin has a way better chance of beating the Buckeyes than State has of not winning out

If Ohio State or one of the 1-loss Big 12 teams runs the table and win their respective conference title, I don't know if MSU will be able to hold off either of those teams if Alabama runs the table and wins the SEC.

You also need a Bama loss to AU or an Oregon loss somewhere along the way. MSU's big wins were all crushed last weekend. Baylor, TCU, and tOSU are getting lots of love and one of those will be a conference champ. I despise that a 'conference champ' will likely supercede a non-champion from a stronger overall conference but that is what will happen.

I mostly agree but I think one of either Baylor or TCU gets a spot. State needs two of the three teams out of FSU, Oregon, and Ohio State to lose. If that happens and they win out and Bama wins out it will be Bama, MSU, either Baylor or TCU, and one of the three teams (FSU, Oregon, Ohio State) that didn't lose in that scenario. How those three teams finish determine MSU's fate. I could see two of the three being upset in their conference championship game.

Wrong -
If Ohio State wins out, they are in. They get an extra game with the B1G championship game and are playing their better ball at the end of the year. The committee already said they will put an emphasis on conference championships, so there is no way they leave a 12 win Ohio State out and keep an 11 win MSU in.

Will you grind dogs be able to handle the pressure in the egg bowl?? I'll be rooting for you. You'll need bad beaux to throw a couple pics.

For SEC teams trying to make the cut, I think it's more important (and perhaps more likely) that FSU loses than for Baylor/TCU/OSU/OR to all stumble. The Committee might claim that geography doesn't matter, but I just don't think they would give three spots to schools in the southeast and only one to the rest of the nation. With FSU out, two SEC teams might be more palatable.
Root for the Gators and GaTech against FSU.

While I would much rather see State in the playoff instead of OSU, I have heard several national commentators state that OSU is a done deal if they win out. I dont like that at all, but that is what folks are reporting from the committee. I dont think the same applies for B12 teams given their lack of conference title game.
