My thought has always been that Bobo's talent evaluation, aside from OL (but that could be blamed on several people), is top notch. His staff that he and Richt built is top notch. The system he uses is effective. More often than not his gameplan is effective but there are frick ups here and there. But who doesn't have that?

I think the only thing that he isn't really elite at is situational play calling. I know you'll probably disagree, which is fair, and to be honest I am not saying he is bad at it. I just think he is hit or miss when it comes to the pivotal play call. You have your over use of the bubble screen and then you have his 4th and 1 call where he motioned the the FB to both be on the right side and it was beautiful. Again, you can't expect someone to be much better than he is at that.

My point is, if there is any, that Bobo is a damn good producer but, yea, there are better guys out there but few are so good that you should have any want for something different. Basically, these days, I sit in the middle of our fans who think he is a god send and those who think he is a bum.

All this is true, but I think it's somewhat of an unfair criticism. No OC ever has been a perfect situational playcaller. You also have to take into account player execution. For example, Bobo was much criticized for the call late against USCe. I don't really agree with it either, but Bobo probably wasn't expecting Mason to brainfart and take a grounding call there. It wasn't a particularly high risk call, Mason just should have tossed it into the bleachers instead of the ground.

I can't think of an OC in college right now that's proven to be a better playcaller in those moments.
