but that's not what would happen. a 1 loss West team like Miss State would jump a Mizzou team that beat them in the conference championship, which would make the conference championship meaningless...and to some degree the regular season.

if people want the regular season, conference champ games, and playoffs to be meaningful from start to finish, they'll create a playoff system like what I mentioned in the OP

otherwise, they have fricked up CFB more than the BCS system.

Jack Arute and Chizik have been saying the exact same thing all year long on Sirius radio.

What would be great is that if somehow the B12 winner is left out of the playoffs by the slimmest of margins because they didn't have the big game at the end of the year (conference championship game).

Basically every conference that has a championship game already has a "playoff game". Those that don't (B12) are getting a free pass.

In other words, I agree with you but only if all power conferences have a championship game.

The playoff needs 8 teams. 5 p5 conference champs and 3 at large bids. That way the coaches and players have 100% control over making the playoffs and there is a set criteria on making the playoffs. The BCS and the playoffs don't allow coaches and players to control their own destiny. After all the changes to the bowl system it's crazy that a p5 team could go undefeated and not make the playoffs.
