Remaining schedules of the top 8 committee-ranked teams.
This does not include conference championship games, which will obviously play a major role in determining the final four.
1. Mississippi State (9-0)
#5 Alabama (8-1) 15 Nov [A]
Vanderbilt (3-7) 22 Nov [H]
#10 Ole Miss (8-2) 29 Nov [A]
2. Oregon (9-1)
Colorado (2-8) 22 Nov [H]
Oregon State (4-5) 29 Nov [A]
3. Florida State (9-0)
Miami (6-3) 15 Nov [A]
Boston College (6-4) 22 Nov [H]
Florida (5-3) 29 Nov [H]
4. TCU (8-1)
Kansas (3-6) 15 Nov [A]
Texas (5-5) 27 Nov [A]
Iowa State (2-7) 6 Dec [H]
5. Alabama (8-1)
#1 Mississippi State (9-0) 15 Nov [H ]
Western Carolina (6-4) 22 Nov [H]
#9 Auburn (7-2) 29 Nov [H]
6. Arizona State (8-1)
Oregon State (4-5) 15 Nov [A]
Washington State (3-7) 22 Nov [H]
#14 Arizona (7-2) 29 Nov [A]
7. Baylor (8-1)
Oklahoma State (5-4) 22 Nov [H]
Texas Tech (3-6) 29 Nov [A]
#13 Kansas State (7-2) 6 Dec [H]
8. Ohio State (8-1)
#25 Minnesota (7-2) 15 Nov [A]
Indiana (3-6) 22 Nov [H]
Michigan (5-5) 29 Nov [H]
Some takeaways:
- MSU and Bama by far have the toughest remaining scedules. That's not necessarily a bad thing; they will be rewarded for the wins against ranked opponents and not heavily penalized for the losses (provided they're not blowouts).
- I think Florida State will slip up against one of their remaining three opponents.
- TCU will coast and they have no conference championship game...although that will probably hurt them in the end.

Biggest question is what becomes of MSU if they lose to Bama but win out. And OU, FSU and TCU win out as well.

Are you assuming Bama wins out?

I don't think we would jump ahead of Oregon or FSU. We would probably jump TCU if State lost in a close (7 pts. or less) game to Bama.

Auburn could make it too

Teams with a chance of being in the playoff are talking...go bitch about refs or something.

If there is any justice MSU would still be in and TCU would get bumped.

I agree. If State were to lose against Bama in a close game and then go on to beat Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl, they would deserve to be in the final four IMO.
