I'm saying in the BCS era conference title games were beneficial to teams way more than they hurt. And conference runners-up aren't going to factor into the playoff conversation very much. I'd bet good money you won't see two teams from the same conference in the playoff more than once every 5-6 years.

But when we do, it won't make any difference that the runner up gets a bye while the champion doesn't?
