With that line of reasoning, having byes in playoffs have no effect - positive or negative. Is that your position?

I'm saying in the BCS era conference title games were beneficial to teams way more than they hurt. And conference runners-up aren't going to factor into the playoff conversation very much. I'd bet good money you won't see two teams from the same conference in the playoff more than once every 5-6 years.
