Is there any advantage of the West winner going to the SECCG - seems you would have more to lose than gain? Is there anything the SEC can do to address this?

I've already said it, the conference championships are meaningless and the championship games are liabilities now. It will remain this way as long as they don't give auto-bids to conference champions.

Everybody said conference championship games were a liability when the SEC started it in 1992. They weren't. When the BCS came along everybody said conference championship games would be a liability. There weren't. I doubt the playoff will be any different. The Big XII just needs to add one so all P5 conferences will have one.
