As we know dominance in football is cyclical, do you guys think, one day we will see the SEC in the same state as the BIG 10 or with all the money being thrown around towards the SEC its now an unstoppable machine.

SEC football will NEVER be in the same state as Big 10 football as long and the sport is around. College football is king in the south. It's third fiddle in the north.

Unless you can make all the high school talent move up north, no.

ETA: The Big 12 or ACC, from a talent standpoint, has a far better chance of passing up the SEC than the Big 10. Not that I think that will happen either.

Maybe once the coaches up north start challenging us on the recruits down south, it could happen sooner than later.

As it stands today, most 3-5 star recruits from the south want to play in the SEC.

I doubt it would happen to that extent due to demographics of the country and academic standards compared between the two conferences.

I don't expect the SEC to ever be in the situation the Big10 is in now. Part of the shock of the Big10 being so terrible is the fact that they were the premier conference for overall college athletics for over 60 years. When you compare the overall athletics, the Big10 still is the premier conference, but only if you are valuing all sports equally. B10 is great at men's basketball right now, but the baseball has never been good to my knowledge, and the football is marginally better than the ACC.

I cannot imagine a situation where the SEC is perceived as worse than 3rd in football. realistically the only conference positioned to compete in reputation is the pac12, the big10 has too many factors holding it back, the big12 doesnt have enough programs, and too many ACC have no reputation for football to build on.

In a lot of ways the SEC rise to absolute dominance coincides with the establishment of college football as a collossal moneymaker. I liken it to Michael Jordan. He was the best player when the NBA solidified itself as a major brand, he will always be the greatest ever in most minds. Same with SEC, it's likely that the SEC will be the number 1 football conference until the demise of western civilization.

SEC will never be as down as the Big 10 is now. We won't have many years like this where the West could end up with 5 teams tied for first with 6-2 conference records, but we'll always have 2 or 3 big powers vying for a playoff spot each year.
