I would say no but it is a reasonable question. After repeated information sharing/warnings by our coaching staff regarding NCAA rules, ignorance of the rules or consequences of breaking them is likely not the case. I think most of our fans chalk it up to a young man rationalizing violation of the rules for short term gain. But Gurley is not stupid and was well aware of the risk he was taking and rolled the dice regardless.

In the end, assuming his NFL comes to fruition, he wins either way and definitely reduced his risk of injury through the 4 game suspension. Whether this was factored into his decision making, no one can say not knowing his related thought processes. What is certain is that some fans, including yours truly, have lost some respect for Gurley as a result of this matter, he blew his Heisman chances and potentially jeopardized a title chance for his team.

Hey sorry for this question but I haven't followed the news, did Gurley put out a statement?
